This newborn photo session was very dear to my heart because it was done just a couple of weeks after I had taken the mum's maternity photoshoot here in Washington, so I felt super connected to the baby.
This session was done in my in-home studio in Bothel where I have collected multiple beautiful props, layers, and wraps for parents to choose from for their newborn photo session.
Newborn Photoshoot with greens and earth tones
I and the mum discussed and decided to go with warm green and beige tones to go along with the wintertime, but also match the colors of her maternity photoshoot.
If you are planning to hang photos together on a wall at home it's a great idea to keep the tones similar so that your wall looks cohesive.
Best Timing for Newborn Photoshoots
Newborn photo sessions are best done in the first 10 days of the baby's life to allow for easy posing. I need the baby to be very sleepy during the session in order to achieve these beautiful poses without him being upset. Once you have your baby you will not have time to think about a newborn photo session or buy clothes, so it's best to book the photo session and arrange all the logistics while you are somewhere in the second or third trimester, at least a month or two before delivery.
Theme
The theme here was more down-to-earth, dried natural pampas, bamboo and rattan props, lots of natural materials to give that boho look to the photos, paired with the warm dark green tones to give this gorgeous look.
I always discuss themes and colors with my clients at least a month before delivery to make sure I have my stuff ready, and the client has their wardrobe ready as well.
